Subfamilia Agathidinae

Large cosmopolitan subfamily of endoparasites of larvae of Lepidoptera. Rather frequently collected. The oldest (and thus valid) name for this group seems to be Bassinae (Simbolotti and van Achterberg, 1995) instead of the name Agathidinae used upto now. The subfamily contains two well separable sections: one with fore tarsal claws simple or with medial lobe, and the other possessing fore claws with subapical tooth (= claws bifurcated).
